THE CHRISTMAS SONG (MASON STYLE) Brisket roasting on an open fire. Bubba Frost nipping at your nose. Yuletide carols being strung on barb wire. And folks dressed up like so-and-so’s. Mailing Food Gifts to Military Friends and Family Many members of the American Armed Forces will not be home for the holidays this year. The next best thing may be receiving greetings and gifts of food items from their families and friends. When thinking about what to send to your friends and loved ones consider food gifts that are not perishable, can tolerate a range of temperatures for several days, and can withstand a bumpy ride.

It's just about here,CHRISTMAS! First we stuff ourselves at Thanksgiving. Then we go on a sugar diet from Thanksgiving till CHRISTMAS. Okay, there’s turkey and dressing in-between. However, we do exercise when we walk up and down the shopping isles of the stores. But, we make sure there are plenty of sugar treats in the basket for nourishment from the extra walking.

One of the best things about Christmas is the traditions, the habits we perpetuate year after year, often without knowing why. We have the fruitcake tradition, the mistletoe tradition, the gain twenty pounds tradition, and many others. As an outdoorsman my favorite tradition is the Christmas tree. The classic Christmas tree is not an artificial tree, but a live one, or one that was at least recently alive.

‘How do I keep my kids from getting sick?’ is a question I get asked a lot this time of year. I think it is an important question for adults as well as kids – especially as we head into the holidays. There are many Christmas stories that I enjoy seeing every holiday season. Some are silly, some are serious, and some are just,,,, well, odd! There are few among us that can watch Jimmy Stewart in "It's A Wonderful Life" and not get choked up when he is reunited with his life and his family.
