For the last several years, at the end of one year and the beginning of another, we've provided a year-end recap of events. We do this by reprinting the front pages from the prior year's papers, at reduced size, as a reminder of the events that transpired. The Christmas and New Years weekends are behind us, most of the decorations are packed away till next year, and I have heard several people worry about losing the extra pounds gained from the good food and many sweets. It is always a challenge to remember to date checks for 2010, but if that is your major problem this week I would think you should count yourself lucky.

According to the official Texas Parks & Wildlife Department website: "Every hunter (including out-of-state hunters) born on or after Sept. 2, 1971, must successfully complete a Hunter Education Training Course." ***** THINK TANK ********** My friend Shagnasty may be nutty as a fruit cake but he occasionally comes up with a bone that has some meat on it. Mention Mason County to someone from elsewhere in the state, and they're likely to respond with one of two words: deer or topaz. The biggest difference about the two is that, within 30 minutes, I can probably show you several deer in their native habitat.
