There’s no place like home. And there’s no place like a small town. You can find anybody pretty darn quick. If the phone doesn’t reach them, the neighbor will. Or drive around town till you find their vehicle. Or just mention their name to somebody. "Oh, I just saw her at Mane Attraction. She’s getting a manicure." Or, "He’s down at Willow Creek with the guys." ...

I think we can safety say that, Winter has arrived! I don’t mind the cold, as you can always put another layer of clothing on. However, when it’s HOT, you can’t take off enough clothing. I’ve no idea who it was that said, after working for so long and you’re eligible for your "Old Age Pension,"

As you know if you were bored enough last week to read this column, I recently availed myself of the opportunity to take the online Texas Hunter Education Training and Culinary Arts Course, offered by our friends at the Texas Parks & Wildlife Dept. ***** Two Dinners, A Sandwich and a Dessert THE TWO DINNERS: Some time ago I wrote that the three meals Mama served to her family each day were known as breakfast, dinner and supper. Yeasted English Muffin Bread I like English muffins. My love affair with them began when I was a road warrior for IBM. Spending several days on the road each week, in different cities, eating in different places, shaped my thinking to the point where I was primarily looking for a "no surprise"

In my life, I've been fortunate enough to have traveled to a number of cities around our nation. Each of them holds special memories for me, but I'm especially fond of their nighttime displays. I know that it's politically incorrect to like the lights put out by our towns and burgs; but, I just can't help myself.

Gerry, I was very glad to see your write-up in the Dec. 29th issue of the Mason County News. I wish you would go into a little more depth. I am curious as to why these city administrators stay only a short time and then leave. Are the mayor and city council interfering?
