Notices of Appraised Value will hit the mail this week. There is a lot of information on the notice which can be very confusing. I could have been no more surprised if my Uncle Mort had decided to take up cricket or mount a new career as an Elvis impersonator. He said he’d hoped to save the announcement for his 99th birthday party on July 4th, but feared that any delay—even if mere days—could cost him a bundle….Like a cobra charmed by a flautist—a guy who recognizes a musical gourd when he sees one—I was immediately mesmerized.

The Eckert James River Bat Cave Preserve is located deep in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. It is wild and rugged. It is invigorating and awe-inspiring. If someone were to compare it to other preserves based on size, it would seem small and unimportant. For anyone who has had the privilege of setting foot on this unique acreage, it boasts of events and sights that set any human heart into a memory making mode.

I don't like cigarette smoke. I don't handle it well, and tend to go out of my way to avoid being exposed to it when I can. Having grown up with parents who smoked, and one who died of lung cancer, I have seen the negatives of such a habit.Oddly enough, having seen the negative impacts of smoking, I am also a snuff dipper.

To the Patriarch of the Clan Dad, you were my first super-hero. There didn’t seem anything you couldn’t do. You were, you are, larger than life. First grade, first merit badge, First Communion, first recital: all were witnessed and celebrated. Remember that time we collaborated to surprise Mom?
