Singin’ in the rain. We’re happy again. In the early morning rain. And nowhere to go.Raindrops keep falling on our heads.‘Cause, Baby, the rain must fall.Nearly 800 songs exist about rain.Rain changes perspective.Forget praying for peace in the Middle East.Pray for rain!Talk about an attitude adjustment. That’ll solve everything.Rain.We saw it.We got it.We live to tell the tale.Rain actually fell. And broke the spell.Thundered too. Some got two inches.Others three-and-a-hal ...

Surely clever t-shirt messages will pop up any day now. They’ll flow from creative juices of Texas Christian University students whose athletic teams have been members of four different athletic conferences over the past dozen years. “We gave the Big East $5 million, and all we got were these lousy shirts,” the message might read.

Everything wonderful must come to a finish at some point. This is what happened on Friday evening at The Eckert James River Bat Cave Preserve. The bats took off back home and thus ended the viewing of the emergence this season. Not a bat was to be seen on Saturday.

The rains a week ago were a very welcome relief from the dry days, and the cooler weather is giving us a taste of fall after a very long hot summer. Even with four inches of rain around most of the County, we are still well below the yearly average rainfall and the countryside still is dry and brown, now with just a haze of green.

=Helpful hints and home remedies from customers can be useful. I like to share them because some of them might help you.For emphysema or chronic lung congestion, try grape juice. It must be the “not from concentrate” kind, but it seems to be very helpful in dissolving the mucus. This particular kind of grape juice has been used successfully on emphysema. For cholesterol and arterial plaqueing, try pomegranate juice.

While I was researching to prepare for this article, I realized very quickly that I’d become complacent even though, for years, I actually gave talks on this subject. I mean, heck, I live in a small town “where everyone knows your name” – and more than likely, most of your business!

Hope you all had a great week enjoying the post-rain effects! I am combining last week’s column (which joined the other missing column in a parallel outer world) with this week. It is getting embarrassing to send in the “Bits” and have it never arrive, and then it is mangled on my end.

Garry James writes for Guns & Ammo magazine, and he’s not bad. I enjoy Garry’s articles, and he usually comes up with something worth reading, so I’m kind of glad he writes for G&A. But then, I don’t think they tried very hard to get hold of me, if you get my drift.Recently Garry wrote a piece about the five most beautiful handguns ever made, which was a pretty popular column.

Remember when we were all young and believed anything was possible? When we looked to the future, we felt that the world was ours for the taking, and there was little we could not do.As we grow older, we have successes and failures in our lives, and that begins to color all that we do.

Is it me, as a Preacher, or do you, like me, think we've gone to far as a nation, to heed God's warning in Deut. 30:2, And shalt return unto the Lord thy God, and shall obey "His" voice according to All that "I" command thee this day, thou and thy children with all thine heart, and with all thy soul: As I read this and many other passages in God's word, it becomes clear to me, that as a nation being dis-mantled, constitution - piece by piece, as a people who have not only forgotten their pas ...

This is in response to the Op-Ed regarding the Durbin Amendment. I feel so sorry for poor old Bank of America. It approached Congress several years ago with hat in hand, and we, the American taxpayers, bailed it out along with many other mega banks and mega corporations. Nobody was punished for their malfeasance and their upper level management people are getting incredible bonuses and salaries.

If you were watching the news a year ago, you could see this coming. People are smart, and can see the truth if they stop to look carefully. People know that a “double dip recession is a possibility” is piling it stinky and high. People have seen and felt the continued financial pressure for years.
