“All is change.”Thus spake Euripides (c. 480-406 B.C.).And nothing’s changed since.Science tells us change is inevitable.History tells us change or else. There’s been some changes around town.A couple of businesses have closed. And a bakery and barbershop have opened. The Barbershop is just west of the square on 87.Topaz Confectioners is on the east side of the square.Heard tell they sell out before 8 a.m.And if you’re thirsty, go directly to the Richard P.

Warren Buffett, the “oracle of Omaha,” has a punched ticket for succinct and clever word usage, whether spoken or written. People hang on ‘em, often investing accordingly.A 19-year-old when he graduated at the University of Nebraska, he wrote short Burma-Shave poems, thus helping with expenses and gaining experience early-on for both brevity and humor.Recently, he pointed to frequent investment errors.

In my last article, I made an effort to explain why the fighting was so brutal and in the Indian warfare, both sides showed extremes in combat due to survival as in the case of the Indians, it meant food and the spoils of war and for the Rangers, it meant defending the Frontier’s property and livelihood as well as the spoils.

Life as a child was so much easier, than becoming an adult! Memories! To remember how good the old days were. Getting a Cherry-Coke Dr. Pepper-Peanut butter cheese crackers was a treat. Both were a nickel and having Uncle Roy pull that dime out of my ear was the greatest.

Digestion – Our health or lack of health is directly tied to what we eat and how we digest it. Digestion is the means by which the body transforms food into the energy and nutrients it needs to build, repair and fuel itself. Most of us assume that whatever we put into our mouths is going to be digested and nourish us.

The beautiful Spring weather the past couple of weeks has been a real blessing, and the wildflowers are just making their presence known around the County. I saw several patches of blue along the roadsides this past weekend and there is water in the tanks and ponds for a change, so it seems that things are looking up all around Mason.

Several years ago I spent a couple of weeks camping in Alaska with about thirteen other guys, nine of which were teenagers. The Alaska part was great, but I don’t recommend making a long trip like that with a bunch of adolescent boys. The testosterone levels in the short bus we traveled in often reached the point where we had to stop and air out the vehicle for a few hours before we could continue. As a result of that trip, people often ask me questions about how to survive in the Wilde ...

I put the quotes around the 30 Minute part of this recipe’s title because, even after a few practice runs, I can’t get them on the table in 30 minutes. As a matter of fact, if you look at the recipe closely, you’ll see that you need to proof water, oil and yeast for 10 minutes; after you shape the dough into rolls, you have to let them sit for 15 minutes; and then you have to bake them for 10 minutes!

This June, for the first time in nine years, I'm going to be gone when we put out a newspaper. I was a bit shocked when I realized that I had, for nine years, arranged my time off from work to avoid missing putting out an issue. And then, I thought, how can you call it a vacation if you never were really gone that long?My friends have heard me talk for years about my friends in Massachusetts, Bruce and Susan Wheltle.

How do you all do it? That seems to be the most common question asked of the board of the Odeon Preservation Association...How do you get such great entertainment to come to the Odeon Theater in lil’ol Mason, Texas? In the beginning the board started out with a couple of connections, some top notch names and a lot of persistence to get folks like Joe Ely, Tish Hinojosa, Terri Hendrix, Liza Gilkyson, Teye & Viva El Flamenco and many other great names.
