Properly planted and girded by embellished half-truths, rumors race across a community faster than the truth on roller skates. When a rumor-starting pro like my Uncle Mort sets ‘em up, they move still faster, swelling and swirling with tornadic force. Take Mort’s 100 Would there be aerial fly-overs? Would Elvis show up?

Grilling is such a great way to cook in the summertime. It’s healthy and it keeps your house cool. We’re doing better than last year rainwise, but everyone should still be vigilant when it comes to outdoor cooking fire safety. The National Fire Protection Association data show that from 2005-2009 U.S.

Unless you’re a politician, you would think a lifeguard’s job would be to save people who are drowning. And you would be right. A politician, of course, might first want to know if the drowning person is from his or her specific district, whether the drowner is registered to vote, which party the drowner is registered ...

At the time I'm writing this column, we've officially had just over a quarter of an inch of rain in Mason since the weekend. The forecast for the next few days calls for a good chance of rain every day. Friday shows 40% chance, while Saturday shows a 50% chance. When people are planning outdoor events, they usually scan the forecasts nervously as the time for the event approaches, keeping their fingers crossed that beautiful weather will be part of the celebration.

This is a polite euphemism for "Methane", or "Sewer Gas"…the Fossil Kind is known by the marketing euphemism, "Natural Gas".
