Time flies. Whether or not you’re having fun. Time has its own speed limit. Which seems to increase as time passes. When we’re 10, time drags on. At 10 mph. When we’re 30, it’s 30 mph. And ramping up. By 50, time’s zipping along at 50 mph. And so forth. I guess it makes sense that the eyesight goes. Since it’s all a blur at 80 or 90. Time rules. Nature’s stopwa ...

In bygone years, street names shed considerable light on the economic status of residents abiding there, particularly if the streets had lights. One shabby neighborhood—called “Billy Goat Hill” for decades—became “Angora Knoll” overnight when vast oil reserves were discovered. Within hours, some West Texas landowners who previously shopped mostly at thrift shops showed up at Neiman-Marcus. Dallas sportswriter Barry Horn wrote a recent piece a ...

Most people realize that things happen that are remembered for a lifetime. On the same date the following year, the memory is still there and many take the time to remember these. Some of these things are sad, some are happy, and some...well, breathtaking would aptly describe others! I have had family members die and every year on that particular date I still feel a deep pain in my gut.

If you have read the recent study regarding calcium supplements increasing the likelihood of heart attacks, read this. Recently, it was brought to my attention that senior citizens can be very obstinate! This is especially true when it comes to moving them from their nest of many years to an assisted living arrangement. This told me to be wise and tell my kids where I stand now! Mother, was asked to live with me for six months and Jo Ann for six months.

This column is an attempt at humor, most of the time, because that’s what I like to write. It’s more fun to make stuff up than to look up facts, and it’s definitely fun to include mistakes on purpose, and see if anyone complains about them. My purpose, after all, is entertainment. But I don’t feel very funny right now.
