To say the world population is generally more angered today than at any time in history is like unto a broad sweep with a whisk broom. Still, if put to a vote, results might support such a theory, provided they could withstand challenging roars of voting irregularities. Anger topics have grown to the point of being innumerable.

I recently read an article about a single penny being worth more than a million dollars. There are billions upon billions of pennies though, so how would you know which one it was. It is a rare 1943 Lincoln penny that was accidentally made from bronze instead of zinc-coated steel.

In fact, a large part of every food dollar is spent on food prepared by someone else. Unfortunately, eating out is a habit that may come at a cost to our nutritional health. While it may be easier to drive to the window of a fast food restaurant or order pizza, eating foods prepared away from home tend to be higher in calories and fat compared to what you could prepare in your own kitchen.

Someone recently posted a picture of a scorpion on Facebook, and asked, “Anybody ever been stung by one of these?” Normally, I ignore such Facebook posts, on the grounds that I don’t care. Someone else being stung by a scorpion is unlikely to affect me, unless they happen to be, say, performing neurosurgery on me at the time, or maybe driving toward me on a highway.

Last week, we started our political forum. That is the method we have chosen to use during past seasons, and I have no reason to think that it will not maintain its effectiveness. Dear Gerry, Let me echo Lynn Reichenau’s appreciation for your setting up a pre-election political format for us to read both positions and think about them. This year’s Puncher Pete is the best mascot we have ever seen.

I recently read an article on the internet entitled “Is california the next Detroit.” The article was written by Robert J. Cristiano, Ph.D., a California educator & real estate developer. The article is real eye opener as to what big government is doing to our country. I would like to share his message with the people of Mason County. Most Californians live within about 50 miles of its majestic coastline - for good reason.
