Supposedly, a British Airways pilot was flying into Frankfurt Airport, where the air traffic controllers are notoriously cranky. Pilots are expected to know their gate location and are derided if they ask for assistance. Once on the ground, the BA pilot paused on the taxiway, and the ground controller radioed him and said, “Do you not know where you’re going?” The pilot said, “Stand by, Ground, I’m looking up my gate location.” Ground impatiently asked, “Have you never been to ...

Riney Jordan, a fellow speaker who has addressed a few thousand audiences for a quarter-century, varies from the script occasionally—often in the “getting to” or “getting from” engagements. We chat occasionally, often with “can you top this” conversation starters. He usually comes out on top. Readers who make it to the end of this piece will agree he’s done so again.

This world hasn’t gone crazy, yet! But it’s in epidemic stages of STUPIDITY! I thought folks making our laws were smart, WRONG! They have the education, but they didn’t study it from the right book. One said, “I’m afraid the island will tip over?” This man is in Washington! OK, he’s not the only one, they all seem to be one taco short of a full Mexican Plate. They tell us to be “POLITICALLY CORRECT!” I’m not a politician, so I don’t have to be POLITICALLY CORRECT!

Serotonin is the brain chemical that makes us feel happy and content. It also helps us sleep soundly at night. When we eat a wholesome meal, the body is notified through the release of serotonin that we are well fed, helping us feel content and satisfied. April showers bring May flowers. And we actually had them. April showers. Two inches worth in some places. And hopefully more to come. And more flowers. Spring. Renewal. Rebirth. New life. New changes. The Petal Patch moves from the east side of the square. And over next to Mason Building Supply. The square lives and breathes. A dynamic unto itself. Witness to change time and time again. Businesses that used to be. For instance, the Law Offices of Geistweidt & Whitworth and the ...

Dear Editor: I’d like to thank the townspeople of Mason for their hospitality and hosting another fantastic Topaz Day. I spent a 1/2 day out on one of the ranches and (which I’m keeping secret because I) was one of the lucky ones who found a large (2" tall) smokey quartz point.
