For more than a decade I’ve poked fun at those who have told us Climate Change is a Big Problem. I’ve mocked their fears that Earth was becoming a giant sauna, and that unless humankind Woke Up And Did Something we would all shortly end up in a real-life remake of Kevin Costner’s ‘Waterworld,’ which would still be a disaster, even without Costner in it.

It’s beginning to look alike like Christmas! However, we’ve not had Thanksgiving yet? Every year Christmas is being put out before Thanksgiving. In fact, the day after Halloween, the retailers and commercials were of Christmas. Tom the turkey is saying, “Hey, what about me?” Not to worry, Tom, you’re the one that starts all the turkey and dressing, not to mention all the cakes, candy and pies!

because this suggests that there will be either life with God or life separated from God. It is also important to read John 3:17 & John 3:18, too. Actually read the whole book of John. Let’s not “hang our hat” on 1 verse “if” we believe in judgment, this would suggest what?

Pastor Cliff titled his sermon “hope and resurrection’. The Gospel scripture was from Luke 20.27-33. Jesus has set his face for Jerusalem. When Jesus arrived in Jerusalem, He wept (19:41-44). Why do you suppose Jesus weep? You may remember that when Jesus gets to the Temple, he sees some folks buying and selling sacrifices for the atonement of sin.

Money impacts every decision that we make. You might wonder why a column on natural health would be about money – I find money to be an important aspect in choosing the right supplements to take. I assume that everyone takes supplements to be healthier – otherwise why bother. But the question I ask is “are your supplements making you healthier?” I see many supplements in my day to day business – those that I sell, those from vendors who want me to sell theirs, and those that people b ...

Our citizens, in general, wait—too patiently, too quietly—for a big dose of indignation. Used to, folks usually spoke of “righteous indignation.” Today, most would consider other kinds—hopeful that a few righteous ones might slip through, jarring us from our lethargy. We hunker, fearful of both the real and imagined. If we make any noise at all, we whimper instead of exclaim.

C’mon everybody! Here we go! (To quote Peter Pan on the Disneyland ride.) We can yell it out here too. Up, up, and away… And down the slippery slope we go. Towards the holidays. And the end of the year. And beginning of a new one. No turning back. No getting out of it. Thanksgiving’s halfway here. And Christmas is on the horizon.

Dear Gerry, I went out to play golf with the Lady’s Golf Association on Thursday, and as I drove into the Park, I noticed several young people hard at work painting the cables and posts alongside the road. The result of their work made the whole entryway really sparkle. Asking around, I discovered that their labors were part of the “Blue Ribbon Work Day,” during which our high school students take on various projects around town to help improve the overall look of our city. On behalf of ...

I allow myself to get roped into all kinds of things. I'm not always good at saying "no" when I should, and I end up serving on boards, committees and organizations that I really don't have time to spare. But, there are some things that I have said "yes" to that bring me great joy.
