Tax Office
Wednesday, January 14, 2009 • Posted January 14, 2009

I’m one of those pesky “out-of-towners” who loves living in Mason, but just part time. I do my best to contribute to the community, but recently had to rely on the telephone to conduct 2008 property tax business.

Many of you are probably well-acquainted with Mary and Ted at the county tax office. I am not. Mary’s recent assistance to me lasted for days, involved numerous “third parties,” and took up her professional attention at a very busy time. She didn’t know me as more than a number at the beginning of our transactions, but treated me as if I were her top priority. Ted relayed messages when she was taking care of business at the counter. The office served this tax payer so efficiently and personally, that I felt I must recognize the efforts in a public way. “Taxes” is an issue that usually garners less. Mary, you are yet another Gem of the Hill Country.
