On 1 May 2009, Dustin W. Durst was promoted to the rank of Captain by Lieutenant Colonel Brian W. Gibson. Captain Durst's father, Dusty Durst of Llano, attended the promotion ceremony held at Fort Hood, Texas. Dustin is currently serving as the S6 Signal Officer for the 1st Air and Missile Defense Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment. Dustin is a 1998 graduate of Mason High School. He is also a proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Texas at Arlington, Army Basic Combat Training, Army Office Candidate School, the Army Basic Airborne School, and the Air Defense Artillery Basic Officer Leader Course. Dustin currently resides in Killeen, Texas with his wife Veronica and son Carson. Captain Durst's parents are Dusty and Brenda Durst of Llano and Rheba Pence of Floresville. Godparents are Gerald and Tess Geistweidt of Mason.
