The students at Mason Elementary were treated to a special presentation on Tuesday when Alaskan adverturer, author and Iditarod competitor Dewey Halverson was at school. He talked to the students about the famous sled race, and demonstrated the clothing, dog routines, and sledding practices necessary to compete. The third grade had been studying the Iditarod, as well as following the race. Third grader Rudy Martinez was chosen by Halverson to don the parka, and is pictured with he and the sled dog.
