The Board of Directors of the Mason Community Foundation met March 15 to consider the grant requests from several local organizations to be funded from the profits of the Mason Thrift Store. The Board approved some of the applications, including a request from the Mason County M. Bevin Eckert Library to fund two laptops for use by library patrons. There has been an increase of public use of library computers and in 2010 there were 5,653 individual uses and so two more compute stations will be very useful and with the new units being laptops they can be used anywhere in the Library building. Also included in the grant was an upgrade of the existing computer stations, and some manuals that will be available for anyone interested in learning additional computer skills. The Library is becoming much more of a total learning and communication center, and the Community Foundation is pleased to help expand the library services available in Mason.
