Mary Polk, V.P. of the Library Board smiles upon receipt of a check from Mary Freytag, Friends of the Library Pres. to purchase books (including audio books and DVDs). Previously, half of the Library’s funding for books has come from Loan Star Libraries grants. This program has been cut by the State and this money will not be available to the Library in 2012. Weekly the library purchases 10 to 15 books, including audio and DVD, to maintain a current selection for circulation. The Friends of the Library is proud to support and promote the interests of the Mason County M. Beven Eckert Library. Membership in Friends of the Library is open to all. They will be meeting on Monday, November 7th in the Stribling Room in the Library. New Board members and officers will be nominated and activities for the coming year will be discussed. All are welcome.
