The Riata Service Organization presented an additional $4,000.00 to the Odeon Preservation Association (OPA). This contribution was made possible by way of a grant from the Lillie Eckert Baskett Trust of the San Antonio Area Foundation. This makes Riata’s total donation toward helping our community ‘Save The Odeon’ equal $9,000.00! Riata Service Organization Established in 1950, Riata’s intent was to enrich the education of its members, contribute to the betterment of the community through fundraisers and donations of time and energy, and provide a social outlet for the ladies of Mason County. For more than three decades it functioned as an auxiliary for the Mason Hospital. As Riata Service Organization, it continues to play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for local residents and visitors with projects such as beautification of the town square, Christmas Light Up the Town, renovation of the Historical Building, promotion and maintenance of the Bluebonnet-Wildflower Lanes, and development of Heritage Park. Riata funds these various activities through cookbook sales, annual fundraisers, and memorials. Its strength is upheld by the support of community involvement.
