Gladys (Glad) Krause Purser

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, E.I. Purser, Jr., of Liberty Hill, her daughter, Renea K. Purser, of Austin, her parents Carl and Ola Krause of Liberty Hill, and her brother Lonnie Krause of Kingsville.

She is survived by sister Mildred Krause of Corpus Christi and brother Clyde Krause of Georgetown; her children Rodney, Tiffany Monroe Jones and Greg Monroe; her grandchildren Wendi Landrum, Matthew Purser and Courtney Purser.

Glad graduated from Holland High School and later attended the University of Texas. She enjoyed a 25 year career as a secretary including 10 years as secretary to Texas senators. After retirement she enjoyed lifetime learning classes, volunteering at the Umlauf Sculpture Gardens and Xeriscaping. She was a charter member of St. Johns United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and worked as needed in the building of the church. She loved to travel, her friends, music and art and the beauty and wonders around her. She will be remembered for her love of nature. She often said “Let us nurture nature, the legacy that will save our earth.”

In lieu of flowers, please make donations on her behalf to the Umlauf Sculpture Gardens located at 605 Robert E. Lee Road, Austin, Texas 78704.

A visitation and funeral service were held at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills on Thursday, December 20, 2012. Interment followed the service at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery.
