Coldiron Graduates Training
Wednesday, December 26, 2012 • Posted December 26, 2012

Army PFC Shelby M. Coldiron, daughter of Brent & Tracie Coldiron, Brazoria, TX and niece of Gail Coldiron & Mike Shanley, and Janet Coldiron, Mason, TX, graduated from her Level I Veterinarian Technician training at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX, on Nov. 21, 2012.

She has recently deployed to Anderson Air Force Base on Guam since the Army provides veterinary services for all branches of the US military. While in Guam, PFC Coldiron will be treating Army military dogs plus USDA snake hunting dogs and the pets of military personnel.

Poisonous snakes invaded Guam during WWII, hiding in cargo brought in for the war effort. Since Guam is a sanctuary for many species of tropical sea birds, the USDA has trained dogs to hunt the snakes, which are decimating the bird population on the island.

After her tour in Guam is complete, PFC Coldiron plans to train for her Level II Veterinarian Technician Certification.
