Livestock Judging Team Wins District Contest

Mason County 4-H’ers recently participated in the District livestock judging contest December 7th in San Angelo. Two Intermediate teams and two Junior teams competed at the contest.

Team 1 of the Intermediates ended up winning 1st place overall and team 2 also finished in 9th place out of 25 teams. Team 1 was 1st in Beef, 3rd in Sheep and 4th in Swine. Team 2 was 7th in sheep and 6th in Swine. Those team members consisted of Ryli Ruffin, Stan Stultz, Lucas Martin, Steeley Smith, Slone Stultz, Grace Chapman, Brayden Waite, and Jenna Johnson.

Individually, Ryli was 2nd in Beef, 5th in sheep, and 2nd overall, Stran was 3rd in beef and 3rd overall and Steeley was 6th in swine and 5th overall.

The Junior teams finished 5th and 14th out of 20 teams. Team 1 in the Juniors won sheep, and Team 2 was 6th in Swine. Those that participated on the Junior teams were Sterling Smith, Rylan Jordan, Aspen Martin, Brooke Stockbridge, T. Range Schmidt, and Alexandra Cope.

Individually, Aspen finished 2nd in sheep, Sterling was 6th in sheep, and Rylan was 8th in sheep.
