Virginia Jean Beam

Virginia Jean Beam, of Mason, passed away on Thursday, January 3, at the age of 89. Funeral services for Virginia Beam were held on Monday, January 7, at 2:00 p.m. in the Mason Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Colleen Haley officiating. Interment followed in the Gooch Cemetery. Visitation with the family was Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home.

Mrs. Beam is survived by her children: Jim Beam and wife Pat of Sulpher Springs, Texas, Reall Beam Jr. and wife Edna of Clayhatchee, Alabama, Denise Walker and husband Jim of Alta Loma, California, Wanda Connolly of Yuma, Arizona, Sue McCully of Mason, Texas and Kevin Beam and wife Regina of Jarrell, Texas, 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Reall “Rex” Beam a granddaughter Kimberly Walker and a son-in-law Terry McCully.

Virginia was born on July 14, 1923, in Creston, Iowa, to James Lininger and Frances Ely Lininger. She graduated from high school in Pomona, California, and worked at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California prior to her marriage. On July 8, 1943, she married Reall “Rex” Beam in Florence, Arizona. They were together for almost 64 years until his passing in 2007. They lived in Pomona, California for over 30 years before moving to Mason in the late 1970’s.

Virginia was a loving wife and mother whose career was caring for her family. She enjoyed cooking, canning and gardening along with collecting recipes, crocheting, knitting and raising animals. She was also a devoted care-giver for her mother for many years.
