Minnie G. Schmidt has been chosen for the Artist of the Month at the Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library. Minnie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gandy, is proud to present her original paintings in oil, watercolor, and charcoal. Born and reared in Milam County, she received her formal education at Southwest Texas State University, Class of ’49. She is married to Kelly H. Schmidt of Mason, Texas, and is the mother of three, an avid golfer, and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
With a major in Home Economics and an Art minor, Minnie has studied privately and attended workshops with many well-known artists of the Southwest, such as Landscaper under Dollie Nabenger of Fredericksburg; Still Life under Lonnie Mason of Lubbock, TX and Cloudcroft, NM; Portraits under Harold Gore of San Antonio; Frances King of Brady; Linda Granberry, M.A., of Rochelle; John Pike of Woodstock, NY, N.A.A.W. S.; and Edgar A. Whitney of New York City, NY, N.A.A.W.S.
A classic artist by style, Minnie paints all subjects, but finds portraits in oil her favorite and old houses in watercolor clean fun.
