Jane Hoerster, Historian Emeritus of the Mason County Historical Commission, was recently honored with a plaque naming the MCHC room at the Mason County M. Beven Eckert Public Library the “Jane Hoerster Archives Room”. Jane has been a member of and/or Chair of the MCHC for over 30 years. She resigned her chairmanship at the end of 2008, but has continued as a member of the Historical Commission and has “manned” the MCHC room at the library ever since the library was built. She has helped hundreds (probably thousands!) of folks looking for historical records of people, events and places in and around Mason County. Most of the time she doesn’t even have to look it up – she just knows it! Her knowledge of Mason County is astounding and she has been an asset to the Commission and it’s for sure that no one will ever be able to replace her! Even though she has been pretty much “home bound” the past six months or so, she is still called upon to answer questions pertaining to Mason County. She is a remarkable woman and Mason County is a better place because of her dedication and love for the city and county of Mason. We love you Jane!
