Trash to Treasure Bookmaking
Wednesday, January 16, 2013 • Posted January 18, 2013

Dayna Haines, a member of the Fine Arts Association of the Hill Country, gave a creative program on bookmaking, January 8th, at the Mason Eckert Civic Center. The date of her program happened to be her birthday, which also was the birthday of Elvis!

Dayna has been making hand made books for years, incorporating her own artwork, as well as found decorative items to embellish the covers and pages. Before they arrived for the program, she encouraged members to have a theme in mind to use for their own books. Dayna brought repurposed materials to share at the workshop, giving attendees lots of textures and colors to use for making their own creations.

Our next program, presented by Nadine Ebay of Junction, Texas, is called “Ceramics: from 2D to 3D”. It will be at 6 PM on February 12, 2013 in the Mason Eckert Civic Center. If you are interested in becoming a member of this non-profit organization to promote the arts in Mason, McCulloch, Menard and Kimble counties, please contact Judy Uherek, Treasurer - 325 265-4480.
