Study Club Book Buddies
Wednesday, January 16, 2013 • Posted January 18, 2013

The Mason Study Club participates in the Book Buddy program at Mason Elementary School. Many of the Club members go to the school on a weekly basis. This program allows the children to read one-on-one to an adult. The children enjoy this time with a Buddy and look forward to having the Buddy come.

This week Suzy Walker’s first grade class was treated to a Guest Speaker who is the sister of a Club member. Sandi Appelt, from Brenham, Texas, came to Ms. Walker’s class to read the story “Bubba and Beau”. This book was written by Sandi’s sister-in-law, Kathi Appelt, and the book is dedicated to Sandi and her husband, Gary Appelt.

The children were very quiet as they listened to the story and looked at the pictures. Then a few of the children took turns making up stories about the two main characters in the book, a baby and puppy.

At the end of book buddy time, the children all had fun howling like a puppy. If you see any of the students in this photo, ask them to howl for you.
