At its regular monthly meeting last Thursday, Second Chance – Mason Animal Rescue identified goals and needs for this year. The group decided that 2013 will be all about spaying and neutering.

The group will be asking for Mason’s support to help reduce the number of unwanted kittens and puppies coming into the city pound. Based on the number of litters that ended up there last year, there are still a lot of pets in the community that need to be spayed or neutered.

So keep an eye out for special spay and neuter events and exciting fundraising activities in the coming months. And if you have not already done so, make an appointment now to spay or neuter your cat or dog before the first litter of kittens or puppies arrives.

The pet of the week this week is Lavender, a female hound mix puppy. She is a littermate of Basil, last week’s pet of the week. Five of the puppies from the litter are still available for adoption or fostering. These are friendly and loving puppies who just want to play. For more information about the puppies, please visit www.secondchancemason.com or our Facebook page.
