The Mason Community and School Touched the Lives of Afghanistan Soldiers - The Covered Wagon
Wednesday, January 23, 2013 • Posted January 23, 2013

The community of Mason and the Mason Puncher football team touched the lives of soldiers in Afghanistan in 2012. In 2011, a couple stayed at The Covered Wagon a couple of months before Ken Woods was going to be deployed for 12 months. I kept up with his wife Angela through emails over the months.

Last September she mentioned that Ken and some guys were playing virtual football in their off time. One soldier named his virtual team THE PUNCHERS. Ken heard about it and started talking about Mason and the Mason Punchers.

When I heard about a soldier naming his virtual football team the PUNCHERS, I just knew that Mason Puncher t shirts needed to be mailed to them. Thanks to Mason Monograms & More for helping me with the t shirts. As you can tell from the picture, the community of Mason, Texas sent our love and appreciation to a group of soldiers who were deployed a very long way from home.

I also noted that one soldier’s last name is Mason…pretty cool. Footnote: Ken is now back in Texas and I’m sure that he and Angela will be coming for a visit sometime in 2013. To all our children (my son) who are serving in the military, we give our thanks and miss you.
