German Karneval party in Fredericksburg on Feb 2

Tickets are now on sale for FestNacht, the Rock and Roll party that kicks off 9 days of Fasching Fredericksburg on Saturday, Feb 2, 2013, from 7 pm until midnight at MarktPlatz in downtown Fredericksburg.

FestNacht tickets are $60 per person, with tables of 10 available for $495. Tickets can be purchased online at, or by calling 830-998-1981.

FestNacht is inspired by the German Mardi Gras. Guests are encouraged to put on their rock and roll costumes to enjoy a night of music, dancing, laser light show, fun, and fundraising. Refreshments are BYOB.

The party features Memphis Train, a 9-piece dance band that delivers R&B, soul, funk, Motown, Disco and jazz music all night long. Other entertainment includes a laser light show, contests, and a table decorating contest with a theme of “make believe roadies.” The venue will be open all morning for table setup.

Another activity underway is the “Official Drink” competition. Local establishments have created a signature cocktail that captures the spirit and fun of Fasching Fredericksburg. Drinks must contain one of the liquors sponsored by Glazier. Judges will announce the winners on January 26, but meanwhile patrons can stop by their favorite bars and restaurants to sample the new drinks. Participating venues include: Boot Ranch, Buffalo Nickel, August E’s, Bejas, Hangar Hotel, Fredericksburg Herb Farm, Mamacita’s, Hondo’s, Navajo Grill, Buc’s, Silver Creek, West End Pizza, and K-Bob’s.

Other official Fasching Events include the Fasching Ball on Saturday, Feb 9, at the Hangar Hotel, a Kabarett-style evening; and Fat Tuesday on Tuesday, Feb 12, at Lincoln Street Wine Bar, a New Orleans street party.

Proceeds benefit PAWS and Hill Country Community Needs Council. Tickets and information on all events and activities are available at
