Second Chance held their official Mason County Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting last week at the Strategic Oilfield Services office on the northeast corner of the square. Several human and animal supporters were on hand for the event. Kneeling, left to right: Carol Kothmann, Lynn Hedges, Nancy Scholibo and Jan Appleby. SECOND CHANCE – Mason Animal Rescue is a non-profit animal rescue group formed in March of 2012.

Their mission is to find homes for abandoned or unwanted adoptable animals, develop a spay/neuter program and educate the community on the humane treatment of animals.

Since March of 2012, Second Chance has found homes for over 55 dogs and over 65 cats that were unwanted or abandoned in Mason. Second Chance has also teamed up with ACE afterschool program to help start educating children on pet care and responsibility. In 2013 Second Chance will be launching a community wide Spay & Neuter Campaign.
