Join us on the historic Mason Courthouse Square to celebrate the Texas state gem, and those that create them. See gem cutting demonstrations and the Famous Diamond Replica gems created by members of Texas Faceters’ Guild at Gems of the Hill Country, on the north side of the square, from 12-5pm. Shop for gems and jewelry from visiting gem dealers. Visit rock shops from around the hill country, set up on the square. Kids can enjoy a Gemologist Apprentice program, sponsored by the International School of Gemology. Guided rock hounding for topaz and other minerals (reservation required.) Rock hounding trips leave from Gems of the Hill Country starting at 10am.
Sunday, March 27, from 9am-5pm is the annual faceting seminar presented by Texas Faceters’ Guild, at the Wildlife Ranch Lodge, just off the Mason Square. This is a chance for gem faceters to learn from notable gems cutters and gemologists.
