The Mason Community Foundation (MCF) announces the spring grant cycle. The deadline to submit grant requests is Monday, March 4th. Applications may be obtained at the Community Thrift Store during regular business hours (M-F 10-5 and Sat. 10-4).They may be returned to the Community Thrift Store, or to Hinckley’s Country Store. A proposed grant should be submitted by a local group or organization seeking assistance for funding a specific project or need for the benefit or betterment of a segment of the Mason County population. Guidelines and a set of questions are provided on the application. Feel free to stop by the Thrift store or Hinckley’s for any specific questions. Grants may be partially or entirely funded.
Funding has been provided to many local groups including EMS, Mason and Loyal Valley VFDs, MISD, Lions Club, Alpha Beta Psi, Riata, Mason County Library, the City of Mason, and many many more. Recently, money has been provided to the Crosby Cemetery Association as a start up for the construction of the rock fence (pictured last week on the back page of this newspaper). Money to assist in the cost of repairs to Ft. Mason was presented to the Mason County Historical Society, shown above. To date, we have funded nearly $200,000 to assist with the needs of our community.
Money to fund grants is provided through sales of donated items at the Community Thrift Store. We would like to thank the community for donations, and for shopping throughout the last four years. All sales go toward supporting the citizens of our town and county.
