Fredericksburg Hospital Welcomes General Surgeon to Medical Staff
Wednesday, January 21, 2009 • Posted January 21, 2009

Hill Country Memorial Hospital is welcoming Lance Love, M.D., to its medical staff.

Dr. Love, a general surgeon, began practicing in Fredericksburg this week. He specializes in procedures of the chest, lungs, abdomen, abdominal wall, neck, breast and skin.

“His expertise, particularly in thoracic surgical procedures, and others, will be beneficial to our patients, because he brings specialization in some areas we have previously had to refer to specialists outside of Fredericksburg,” Michael R. Williams, D.O., M.D., chief executive officer of Hill Country Memorial Hospital, said. “His experience is commendable. Anytime a patient selects a surgeon, experience is important, so he is a great resource to our patients and a tremendous addition to our medical staff.”

Procedures Dr. Love performs include thoracic, anti-reflux, colon, stomach and intestinal surgery, hernia repair, diagnostic and therapeutic laparoscopy, splenectomy, gallbladder removal, pancreas surgery, parathyroid and thyroid surgery, breast surgery, skin grafting and endoscopy.

Dr. Love grew up in Pecos, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Biomedical Ethics from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island in 1993. He received his doctorate in medicine from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1999. He performed his residency at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Lubbock and has practiced at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville, KY, since July 2004. He has presented to the North Texas Chapter of American College of Surgeons, Society of Advanced Gastroendoscopic Surgery, Orthopedic Research Society and at the Southern Biomedical Engineering Conference.

Dr. Love is married to LeeAnn and they have two children.

“We welcomed the opportunity to come to the Texas Hill Country,” Dr. Love said. “Our move has gone well, and we love Fredericksburg. I enjoy being able to help patients, and I’m excited to practice here.”

Dr. Love’s office is located in the Perry-Feller Professional Building, 205 West Windcrest, Suite 350. Call 830-997-6000.
