Samuel Martinez

Mr. Samuel Martinez, of Mason, passed away on Sunday, February 17, at the age of 52.

Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife Pinkie Martinez of DeLeon, three children: Sam Christopher Martinez of DeLeon, Crystal Beamer and husband Carl of Harrisburg, PA and Solita Menchaca of San Antonio; his parents Arculano and Isabel Martinez of Mason; three brothers, Joe Martinez and wife Irene, Daniel Martinez and wife Becky and Chappo Martinez all of Mason and four sisters Rosa Morquecho and husband Ernest of Mason, Irene Gutierrez and husband Joe of Sealy, Martha Lopez and husband Mike of San Angelo, Amelia Pena and husband Tony of San Angelo, and five grandchildren Dawson Martinez, Kristen Martinez, Samuel Martinez Jr., Gabriella and Lilliana Beamer and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Martin C. Martinez.

The Funeral Mass for Samuel Martinez will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 20, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mason with Fr. Melvin Dornak leading the services.

Interment will follow in the Crosby Cemetery. Visitation with the family was Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 at Mason Funeral Home with the Rosary led by Jane Vargas at 7:00.

Samuel was born on August 6, 1960 in Mathis, Texas to Arculano Martinez and Isabel Lopez Martinez. He was raised in Mason and was a 1979 graduate of Mason High School. He was self employed in construction. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, riding his motorcycle and building things. He liked working with his hands and was very creative. In earlier years he also enjoyed roping and riding. Increasing problems with kidney failure the last few years limited his ability to work and affected his quality of life.

Serving as pallbearers are Adrian Madrano, Joe Martinez Jr., Marcus Martinez, Michael Allen Lopez, Timothy Pena and Mark Martinez.
