On Tuesday, February 12, Nadine Eby, a member of the Fine Arts Association of the Hill Country, presented an all day program entitled, Ceramics “from 2D to 3D.” Nadine provided each participant with an object (such as a rock, shell or piece of wood) to study, and mentally absorb the shape. Next, 2 dimensional drawings were made of the items. To start the transformation from 2D to 3D, she skillfully demonstrated how to add texture to the drawing, which not only provided the visual appearance of 3D, but firmly planted the image into each person’s mind.
Then each artist shifted their thought to clay, working the clay to form volume, followed by adding texture to increase the 3D depth. The results appeared magically before each participate and reflected the artistic diversity within the audience. Thank you Nadine for such a creative program.
