2012 Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet

"Memory trainer" Craig Krause was the guest speaker during last Thursday's Mason County Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet. He played some memory/recall games with the crowd to test their ability to remember names, objects and situations.
Angie Dudney, the 2011 Educator of the Year, joined Superintendent Pam Kruse of Mason I.S.D. in presenting the 2012 award to Janet Schmidt, at center.
Connie Stockbridge (at right) of Mason Bank, the 2011 winner of Businesswomen of the Year, presented the 2012 award to Gigi Duarte of The Commercial Bank/Santos Taqueria.
Kade Burns (at left) the 2011 Citizen of the Year presented the 2012 award to Steve Toone. Mr. Toone was recognized for his years of work with the Patriot Hunters program, working with injured and mobility restricted veterans to provide access to hunting in the Mason County area.
Nacho and Lisa Ramirez of Nacho's Cafe were the 2012 winners of the Business of the Year - Less than 10 Years. The award was presented by Shannon Worrell, owner of last year's winner, Little Punchers Daycare.
Rebecca Shuessler was named as the 2012 Public Servant of the Year in honor of her work with the Boy Scouts of America and The Odeon Theater. The 2011 winner, Scott Zesch, made the presentation.
The 2011 Business of the Year - More than 10 Years, Mason Feed Store, represented by Lee McMillan (at right), presented this year's award to Mason Bank, which was accepted by president, Thom Canfield.
The 2012 Businessman of the Year is Edward Velez of Texas Deadwood Barbecue. He was joined by his wife, Chayo, and by Chamber Director, Kristi Nunez who presented on behalf of the 2011 winner, Charles Reichenau of ShortStop/NuWay.
The 2012 Hall of Fame Award was presented by Linnda Graham on behalf of her late husband, Lee Graham, the 2011 recipient. The award went to Doris Grote for years of service in Mason hospitality and business, and in countless hours of community service through her work with Riata Service Organization and other groups.
