Mason was an old country town, the hot rays of the sun melted the tar of the road, the courthouse square was filled with trees and an old unique courthouse, there were dogs panting on the sidewalks with birds flying into bushes to get away from the heat. In the mornings the men would go to the farms to feed the cattle and feed the animals, and women would wake up, cook breakfast, then take their late afternoon noon nap, then wake up and feed the family.

There were mostly old people so they would be slow. Waddling from store to store with their old rusty canes. They tried their very best to hurry and be polite but just couldn’t go any faster than waddling speed. In those hot summer days, it seemed that the days are never ending. There was nothing in the whole county that people would rush to town to get. Everything is old and original an also cheap. Not many things in Mason cost over $1,000.

All around Mason, there was just straight country until an hour later, where Fredericksburg is a more tourist attraction. In Mason all of the people were happy and everybody knows everybody and everybody is your friend. The basic mood in Mason is happy cause of the fresh clean air, the freshly plowed fields and the sound of the cows mooing is the most calming setting anybody could ever think of.

Plus I guarantee that there is not one person in mason that doesn’t own a gun, so they can defend themselves. They have nothing to be afraid of just like Macomb County. They can only be afraid of fear itself. Which in Mason there isn’t much of fear in Mason County.
