What a joyful and spirit filled day we experienced at the San Angelo District Leadership Training and Celebration January 12. We made a change to make the sessions convenient to laity by offering each session twice, back to back, and the change worked well. Although the cold/flu season prevented many brothers and sisters from attending the event, the turnout was excellent. We were blessed with dynamic session leaders and many participants shared their praises on how informative and extremely helpful these sessions can be.
The District welcomed Bishop Dorff, and Mrs. Dorff to our Celebration and lunch. During our District Church Conferences last fall, our theme was “Casting the Nets in Living Waters” from the book, “Does Your Church Have a Prayer”. The words from Bishop Dorff, reiterated the theme of “Casting Your Nets” that he used at the beginning of his assignment as our Bishop. Using the passage from John 21 he challenged all of us to continue to “cast our nets” into living waters where a bountiful harvest awaits. With “unification” on the horizon he invited us to plunge into new waters of faith that we may not have reached before. He invited us “to fish on the other side of the boat”. Recognizing all of our churches and their ability to cast the net far and wide reaching others for Christ, we requested “fishing stories” from each one and printed them in the Celebration Program. These stories will periodically be profiled on our District page in The Witness.
This year’s District Celebration honored our Wesley Nurses for their devotion and loyalty to their calling that brings much comfort and hope to many across the San Angelo District.
