Mason Puncher Band Receives Division 1 at Contest
Wednesday, March 13, 2013 • Posted March 13, 2013

The Mason Puncher Band performed in Coleman on Thursday March 7th. They played “El Conquistador,” “In A Quiet Place,” and “Phantom Ship.” They received a division 1 rating from all three judges. In Sight Reading, they read the level 2 piece and all judges gave them a division 1 rating there also. There were 22 bands there that day, from MS, 1A HS and 2A HS, and only 6 bands got straight ones (including Mason). Also across the state, not very many bands have been making a division 1 on the level 2 sight reading piece. It is a very tough piece this year. Director Bobby Halamicek stated, "I was really proud of the kids, they worked really hard and I thought they performed the best I had heard them." From left to right: Cayla Rodriguez, Amber Herrera, Eric Martinez, Michaela Martinez, Elena Ramon, Katherine Koock, Abby Nash, Clairissa Orta, and Shelby Breckenridge.
