Gerry -

The pagan festival of "Easter" originated as worship of a sun idol, the Babylonian so-called "queen" of Heaven, later worshipped under names including Ishtar, Cybele, Idaea Mater, Astarte, and the fertility idol Eostre, from whose name "Easter" is derived. "Easter" is NOT another name for Passover and is NOT celebrated at the Biblically prescribed time for Passover! History reveals that the first month of the Israelite year begins on the first visible new moon after the vernal equinox; Passover, fourteen days later. "Easter" is usually far from the true date for Passover.

To conciliate pagans to nominal Christianity, measures were taken to get Christian and pagan festivals amalgamated. ABOMINABLE! God DOES NOT accept paganism as worship of Him, nor is He honored with such idolatry! SHAMEFUL and DISGRACEFUL!

Is it ANY WONDER why the once great but subsequently annihilated city of Babylon is referred to in the apocalyptic Book of Revelation?! People in those days in that city thought they were doing nothing wrong! The same thing is happening today! Pagan practices are being proclaimed to be Christian in nature, and most think nothing is wrong! GOD IS BOTH PLEADING WITH US AND WARNING US TO DISASSOCIATE OURSELVES WITH BABYLONIAN STYLE IDOLATRY AND APOSTASY!

"And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH." (Revelation 17:5)

"And I heard another voice from Heaven saying, 'Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.'" (Revelation 18:4)
