Johnnie Moreno II Artist of the Month at Library
Wednesday, March 20, 2013 • Posted March 20, 2013

The Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library has chosen Johnnie Moreno II from Brady, Texas, as the Artist of the Month. Mr. Moreno recently joined the Fine Arts Association of the Hill Country. While Moreno can work in many other media, his signature technique is reverse art on glass. Moreno uses old windows as his canvas and states that every step one takes in painting on canvas, he also does but in reverse. He signs and dates the work, adds detail, then works backwards from front to back filling in the background details then the background.

Moreno considers himself a total artist because painting is not his only talent. He is a singer, guitarist, and songwriter. He also writes short stories and movies and has recently gotten into woodturning. As this bright young artist looks to his future, he affirms his love of art and music and adds this last note: “Art and music are such a big part of my life. Art and music have given me hope during stormy times in this life. They keep me grounded and give me hope for an even better tomorrow. I feel there is no limit to what I can achieve.”
