The Mason Lions club met Tuesday, March 12th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 34 members and three visitors in attendance.

Lion Mark Lehmberg was responsible for the program and introduced Laura Keith and Jennifer Moneyhon who spoke about the Mason County Child Welfare Board.

They are both volunteers, along with others, that give their service on behalf of abused and neglected children of Mason County. This Board was created by the Mason County Commissioners' Court.

These members are appointed for a three year term and serve without pay. Their purpose is to develop programs, provide services, and engage in activities that will benefit all dependent, neglected or abused children in need of protection or care in Mason County, Texas. They rely on the generosity of concerned citizens, churches, organizations and businesses to fund their efforts.

You can make a tax deductible contribution to the Mason County Child Welfare Board by sending your donation to PO Box 702, Mason, Texas 76856.

The club’s next meeting will be held next Tuesday, March 19th, at noon at Willow Creek Cafe. The program chairman will be Fritz Landers.

The Mason Lion’s Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
