Artisan Gallery Celebrates Spring
Wednesday, March 27, 2013 • Posted March 27, 2013

One of our favorite stops on the Art Walk is the Artisan Gallery, owned by painter Sue Kaan, featuring 100% Mason artists and artisans in media from oil to wool to silver.

The Artisan Gallery is both grateful and excited to be celebrating our Fourth Anniversary in April. Part of this anniversary celebration invites naturalists in the area to visit anytime to examine a special cube of Mason Nature and to identify the over 40 distinct bio-facts brought together for this occassion. The Mason Nature Cube will be donated to the Mason Museum on the Square in Memory of Wilburn and Faye Shearer, in the name of the winning naturalist. The Cube has been specially created and donated by Texas Nature Project, celebrating their Seventh Anniversary in the Gem of the Hill Country.

Entrants must include their full name, age and contact information along with their list of bio-facts located and identified in the Cube. All are welcome to view the cube often and carefully, and may utilize research in proper identification of the individual items present. A bio-fact is anything found in nature that is a part of the bio-sphere, or Earth. Each item should include as much detail as needed to identify it from other items, as well as a relative location (each side of the cube is numbered, 1-4). Entries will be accepted by individuals, groups, or classes - should you wish to bring in your family or club or your biology class to work cooperatively to maximize identification. The Cube may not be opened and should remain on a flat surface. In judging, the number and accuracy of bio-facts named is the first consideration. In addition, the ages of entrants will be considered. Wrong guesses will cause penalties, to discourage the temptation to guess.

If you cannot visit in advance, be sure to plan to test your nature knowledge during Art Walk Friday or Saturday, April 5th and 6th while enjoying Artisan Anniversary Treats. All entries must be in by end of Art Walk on Saturday, April 6th. Winner(s) along with answers will be announced at the conclusion of the judging.
