Mr. George A. Ramos, of Fredericksburg, passed away on Sunday, April 14, at the age of 81.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 17, at 10:00 a.m. at the Fredericksburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Danielle Knapp leading services. Burial with military honors will follow in the Bethel Cemetery at Camp Air at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Colleen Haley leading services. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at Beckmann Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:00.
Survivors include his wife Lydia Ramos, of Fredericksburg, children Leo Ramos and wife Maggie of Shallowwater, Leonel Ramos and wife Blanca of San Antonio, Oralia Ferrer and husband Manuel of Fredericksburg and Julie Ramos of Fredericksburg, Olivia Wehmeyer, the granddaughter they raised and husband Kalyn of Fredericksburg, brothers Frank Hernandez of Mason and Jack Hernandez of Eden and a sister Frances Castillo of Mason, grandchildren: Angela Hoffman, Lucretia Pinedo, Jeremy Ramos, Joseph Ramos, Mark Ramirez, Matthew Ramos, Nathan Ramos, Amy Ybarra, Mannie Ferrer, Arian Ramos, Nina Ramos, Joseph Gonzales and Carolina Lopez and 13 great-grandchildren: Lauren Hoffman, Dustin Jung, Kelaiah Wehmeyer, Erin Wehmeyer, Andrew Hoffman, Angelica Hoffman, London Hoffman, Jaydan Ramirez, Isaiah Pinedo, Isabelle Pinedo, Michael Joe Ybarra, Jr., Lilly Romero and Naome Lopez.
George was born in Talco, Texas, on May 25, 1931 to Juan Olivarez Ramos and Bertha Aguero Ramos. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and married Lydia Attwood Lopez on September 13, 1954, in Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Ofelia Ramos Limas, three brothers Tony, Pasqual and David Ramos and a sister Irene Herrera.
Memorials in honor of Mr. Ramos may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Fredericksburg United Methodist Church or Hill Country Memorial Hospital.
