The Mason Lions club met Tuesday, April 16th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 31 members in attendance.
Lion Charles Reichenau was responsible for the program and he spoke about his trip to Africa last August.
Charles, his brother-in-law and their friend flew to Johannesburg and stayed three days in the Victoria Falls Hotel. They fished for tigerfish and Charlie caught a 16-pounder. He said he also caught a hippo; but, the guide cut his line before he could get it landed.
They also went to the plains so his brother-in-law could hunt the cape buffalo; but, failed to take one. Their trip was very enjoyable and Charlie's program was very entertaining.
At the District meeting in Midland on April 13th, Lion John Gammill was elected 1st Vice District Governor for the upcoming year.
The club’s next meeting will be held next Tuesday, April 23rd, at noon at Willow Creek Cafe. The program chairman will be Glenn Ruthven.
The Mason Lion’s Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
