Gerry -

I would like to publicly thank Lindsey Collins and Tom Tannehill of the City of Mason for finally addressing my concerns about the Millard/Robin street neighborhood.

I have lived on Millard St. for eight years and have made complaints in writing about conditions in the neighborhood. I have also spoken to the mayor on at least two occasions (on the square) about people living in R.V.s. Nothing was ever done until our code enforcer got wind of my concerns.

I realize that this is a blighted, low income area but real people live here. I would prefer not to be approached by a rattlesnake or a rabid, feral animal that lives in the dense brush on some of these abandoned lots.

Lately, some of the properties have been cleaned up and I believe that I have Lindsey and Tom to thank for that. I do thank you!

I have looked into purchasing a property (at auction) on Millard St. that has eight years worth of delinquent taxes. I do not know what the status of that property is at this time. However, I was told that if my property taxes are delinquent for two years that the appraisal district will file suit to remove my property from me. Believe me, I will make every effort to keep my taxes current. But why does someone else get more leeway?

Thank - you for the public forum.

Carolyn Karner
