Charles Steapp

Charles Creighton Steapp, 76, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at home in Grapevine, Texas.

He was born to the late Edward L. and Eola K. Steapp on July 13, 1936, in Menard, Texas, formerly of Deming, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dudley Steapp, of Mason, Texas.

In 1956, he married the late Mary Ruth Bishop. They lived in Demind, New Mexico, from the 1960s until her death in 1985. They were married 28 years and enjoyed camping, square dancing, and covered most of the United States on motorcycle.

Charles served his country in the U.S. Army, loved working with his hands, and spent most of his life doing carpentry and remodel work. He enjoyed an early breakfast with the men, as many of his friends will fondly remember. He loved the open road and the winding hills; and, spent every opportunity riding his motorcycle. Cross Timbers Community Church in Keller, Texas, was his church home.

Charles is survived by his children: Jamie Carroll Steapp and wife, Becky, of Coralville, Iowa; Melinda Sue Winslow and husband, C.J. of Grapevine, Texas; sister Frances Luann Hooten of Mason, Texas. He is also survived by the following grandchildren and great grandchildren: Julie Myers and husband Alfonso Flores and Aubrie and Liam; Elizabeth (Liz) Mueller and Heath, Tristan and Trinity; Jonathan Steapp and Melissa and Tytus; Joshua Steapp and Ashley Mishak, Jordan, Kyler and Jordan; Brittney Steapp and Wyatt, Chance and Adalia; Amanda Steapp; and Josiah Steapp and Tabbi and Makinlee.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Mason Funeral Home, 204 Post Oak St., Mason, TX 76856. Burial will take place following the service at Rest Haven Cemetery in Menard, Texas.
