On Saturday May 4th, the Castell School Restoration Committee Hatty Sagebiel and Patty Schneider Pfister unveiled the memorial bench that was given by memorials to the Castell School Restoration Fund in honor of Leroy and Margaret Tatsch Rode. The Castell Community Club hosted the dedication event and Patty Schneider Pfister was the Master of Ceremonies. The opening prayer was given by John Harold Schuessler and the program included speakers Norman Grenwelge, John Harold Schuessler, Patty Schneider Pfister, Richard Castro, Robert Cowan and Bill Klotz who spoke on behalf of Leroy and Margaret and their lifetime of dedication to the Castell Community. The Mason Men’s Choir sang several wonderful songs, some of which were sung in German, and the closing song was the Lord’s Prayer sung by choir member Bruce Fowler and interpreted in sign language by Dayna Haines. Castell Community Club President Dorothy Schuessler concluded the program and invited the large gathering of the Rode family, friends and neighbors to stay for refreshments and fellowship.
