Cinco de Mayo.

Mother’s Day.

Two well-known May events.

Lesser known is Peace Officers Memorial Day.

That’s today, May 15.

Saturday is Armed Forces Day.

Next Wednesday is National Maritime Day.

And finally, Memorial Day.

And hopefully between now and then, more rain.

Let May showers bring June flowers.

Or just keep things green.

So far, so good.

How do you spell relief?

R-A-I-N.

Beats 2011 by a long shot.

So get planting.

Get Texas native plants at The Green House.

Hardy, drought-resistant.

Plus flowers, herbs, and annuals too.

And compost, mulch, and potting soil.

And pots to put them in too.

Mason Feed Store remodeled and expanded.

They have just about everything a person could want.

For gardening, and beyond.

Feed and fencing.

Knives and pipe.

Iron skillets and galvanized tubs.

Tools and birdseed.

Weed killer and plant fertilizer.

Automatic dog feeders.

But, alas, no musical instruments.

Now there’s an idea for a new business in town.

Members of the Mason High School Band have what they need.

Every year the seniors are treated to a trip.

After all, they’re graduating and will never play in the band again.

This year it’s Orlando, Florida from June 3rd to 5th.

Those lucky enough to partake are:

Amber Herrera – Flute

Abby Nash – Flute

Elena Ramon – Percussion

Mari Marquez – Percussion

Katherine Koock – Clarinet

Cayla Rodriguez – Clarinet

Michaela Martinez – Percussion

Eric Martinez – Tuba

Forrest Lingle – French Horn

(And the band director, Bobby Halamicek.)

Good job.

Good work.

To the entire Class of 2013.

It won’t be long until…

Goodbye.

And good luck.

That’s Mason.
