Thomas Gabriel Jennings, homeschooled, has been awarded a four year $5,000.00 Youth Livestock Scholarship sponsored by the State Fair of Texas. The $1,250.00 a year scholarship is renewable by maintaining a 3.0 GPA.
Since 1992, the State Fair of Texas Scholarship Program has awarded scholarships to academically talented students who graduate from high schools in the Dallas State Fair Park area. In 1993, the State Fair of Texas Scholarship Program expanded its youth support by awarding scholarships to academically talented students who participated in the State Fair of Texas Youth Livestock Shows. The 2013 - 2014 Youth Livestock Show will be held this fall during the 127th State Fair of Texas, September 27 to October 20, at Fair Park in Dallas, Texas.
The State Fair of Texas is awarding 248 scholarships for the 2013 - 2014 school year. This includes 54 new and 109 renewed Youth Livestock Scholarships and 43 new and 42 renewed recently renamed Pete Schenkel Scholarships (for students from the Fair Park area high schools).
Mr. Jennings participated in the State Fair of Texas Youth Livestock Shows in 2009-2012 in the 4-H/FFA Livestock Judging Contests and won a first place twice and a second place. During his high school years he has been an active member of 4-H Club and active in community service. He has held numerous offices and received many awards and honors during the past four years.
Mr. Jennings plans to attend Texas Tech University and major in animal science. He is the son of Gary and Karen Jennings of Fredonia.
