The Mason Lions club met Tuesday, May 14th, for its regular weekly luncheon meeting. There were 33 members and two visitors in attendance.

Lion Ted Smith was responsible for the program and introduced Carrie Pickering with the law firm of Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP, who spoke about delinquent tax collection.

They work with the Appraisal District in Mason and other towns helping collect the taxes that are delinquent. Fortunately, Carrie said this was not a big problem in Mason. She said that just a reminder that the taxes were overdue, and that they needed to be paid before more penalty and interest was added, was usually all that was needed. She did explain the process that is used if more work had to be done.

There will be a hamburger lunch on June 7th.

The club’s next meeting will be held next Tuesday, May 21st, at noon at Willow Creek Cafe. The program chairman will be Chase Smith.

The Mason Lion’s Club has an ongoing program to recycle used eyeglasses to people who need them. Used eyeglasses may be given to any Lion or left in collection boxes at any of the local banks. Also please contact any Mason Lion if you know of anyone in our community unable to afford appropriate eye care.
